A New Chapter at Freycinet Resort

Perched high above Tasmania’s East Coast, surrounded by 1,200 acres of private wilderness, Freycinet Resort has always offered something a little different.

A short drive from Coles Bay, and mere moments from Freycinet National Park, our resort was created for travellers seeking quiet, space, and a deeper connection with nature – where mornings begin with spectacular sunrises, and evenings end beneath some of Tasmania’s clearest night skies.

As we head into Winter 2026, we’re excited to share a glimpse of what’s next for the resort.

Over the coming year, Freycinet Resort will continue to evolve and expand with a stronger focus on what we call wild luxury – thoughtful accommodation immersed in nature, greater privacy for guests, and exclusive access to the beauty of our estate and surrounding coastline.

This next chapter begins with two exciting additions to the property.

Introducing Bay View Terrace

Tucked into a quieter pocket of the estate, our new Bay View Terrace cabins are now under construction.

Designed for guests seeking a more secluded experience, these studio-style cabins sit slightly apart from the main resort buildings, surrounded by bushland and overlooking the sweeping waters of Dolphin Sands and Great Oyster Bay.

Each cabin has been carefully positioned to embrace the landscape and maximise privacy in a place where the sounds of nature replace the noise of everyday life.

At approximately 35 square metres, the cabins will feature:

  • King bed
  • Balcony with outdoor seating
  • Expansive bay views
  • Warm, contemporary interiors inspired by the Tasmanian landscape

Bay View Terrace represents an exciting new accommodation style for the resort: intimate, private, and deeply connected to the surrounding wilderness.

The studio-style cabins are approximately a ten-minute walk from Reception and Mount Paul Lounge – a distance we’ve come to see as part of the experience itself. In summer, guests will be able to enjoy a peaceful stroll back after dinner, passing through the Sculpture Garden and Ginkgo Garden as the evening light fades across the property.

It’s the kind of quiet luxury that can only really exist here at Freycinet Resort: immersed in nature, yet still connected to the comforts and service of the resort.

We will be excited to open bookings for these properties later in 2026. Please keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook pages for updates.

Freycinet Residences: Private Luxury on the Estate

We’re also delighted to introduce a completely new accommodation offering: Freycinet Residences.

Located across the same 1,200-acre estate as the resort itself, these architecturally designed holiday houses combine the privacy of a standalone home with the professional support and facilities of a full-service resort.

Bookings are now open for stays from October 1.

Positioned high on the estate with remarkable panoramic views, the residences have been designed for travellers wanting extra space, privacy, and flexibility without compromising on comfort or location.

Freycinet Horizon

A luxurious two-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom residence, Freycinet Horizon enjoys sweeping 270-degree views across the Freycinet Peninsula, Great Oyster Bay, Dolphin Sands and the surrounding lagoons.

Filled with natural light and contemporary finishes, the home has been designed to frame the landscape from almost every angle.

Pelican Horizon

Perfect for families or groups travelling together, Pelican Horizon is a spacious four-bedroom residence overlooking Pelican Bay and the lagoon.

The home combines generous communal spaces with the sense of calm and seclusion that defines the estate itself.

Both residences feature modern kitchens, carefully considered interiors, and access to all Freycinet Resort facilities – offering what we like to think of as the professional alternative to Airbnb in Coles Bay: complete independence, supported by an experienced onsite hospitality team.

For guests wanting privacy without isolation, it’s a uniquely East Coast experience.

A New Direction for the East Coast

As Freycinet Resort continues to evolve, our vision is becoming clearer: to create a truly distinctive East Coast retreat experience centred around privacy, space, and connection to nature.

While Freycinet National Park and Coles Bay remain right on our doorstep – and are wonderful places to explore, whatever the season – more and more of our guests are seeking something beyond a traditional holiday base. They are looking for stillness, comfort, and the opportunity to experience Tasmania’s beauty at a slower pace.

That philosophy is shaping everything we do: from the secluded positioning of Bay View Terrace to the expansive design of the new Freycinet Residences.

But it’s also reflected in the quieter moments that define a stay here: lingering over dinner at Mount Paul Lounge, discovering sculptures and landscape installations woven throughout the forest, or simply sitting with a glass of Tasmanian wine as wallabies emerge at dusk.

Over the coming years, we’ll continue investing in accommodation and guest experiences that reflect this vision of wild luxury: architecturally considered spaces, thoughtful food and hospitality, quiet surroundings, and a deeper connection to the landscape that makes this part of Tasmania so special.

We look forward to sharing more soon.
