If you appreciate good wine then you will most likely know the Freycinet region is acclaimed world-over for its cool climate wines. Varieties include pinot noir, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and riesling with some wineries producing the lesser known varieties such as gewurtz. There are a number of local wineries with cellar door tastings, some of our favourites being the Freycinet Vineyard, producer of world class Pinot Noir and Riesling, and Milton Vineyard, producer of a wide range of cool climate wines including Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Rose, Pinot Noir, a sparkling, and an iced Riesling. The other nearby wineries are: Springvale (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Guwertz) who now also manage Craigie Knowe (Cabernet Blend and Pinot Noir), none of which should be missed. To really relax and enjoy a local epicurean adventure, a local company organises daily tours which take in a local oyster farm, several vineyards, and a berry farm to round off the day.
